ABOUT ME
Hello hello! I am Coyah. Pronounced [Koi-yuh]. “Koi” like the fish, and “yuh” like “hell yuh we want to cast her!” Simply Coyah, singular, as I am one of a kind. I choose to go by my first name only, which feels like a more accurate reflection of me. I was adopted when I was seventeen and have been rolling solo for most of my life. I am getting my BFA from NYU Tisch School of the Arts and have had the privilege of studying at both Playwrights Horizons Theater School, Atlantic Acting School, and the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in London.
I often get cast as the strong independent woman, maybe because that’s how people see me, but honestly that is far from how I see myself. I feel more like the quirky best friend than the headstrong main-character. My confidence is rooted in an awkward sincerity that just wants to bring joy to others and my work. I am eager to please but I also hold a warm goofiness that is dying to be released. I’ll give you a hug when you’re sad but won’t let you leave without solving the problem together.
I’m happy you’re here.
